Re: Preparing for the loss of a loved one.

Sorry about your situation, it’s very difficult. We lost my father in law in 2016 after a short illness, we knew it was happening and we had 4 young children to protect. We didn’t tell them what was happening, in hindsight that may have been a mistake, the youngest was too young to be given the news...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Managed to do the vast majority of the Christmas shopping last weekend, I had predicted the lockdown coming and wanted to be ahead of the game, (we have 4 children) it’s a good job really because they are closing non essential shops and our local retail park now looks like the last days of Rome. Thi...

Re: 2020 Potential Economic Collapse

And with the latest lockdown set to begin in England on 5th November, the economic collapse is now guaranteed. Viable businesses destroyed, shops closed that will never reopen & incredible damage done to communities. There is no way they will remove these restrictions on the 2nd December, they a...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Stocked up on gas canisters for my jetboil, my local go outdoors were out of stock for a few weeks in September (probably due to everyone taking up camping!) I now have enough stored to see me through to spring, not much fishing will be done over winter but hopefully I will be roaming far and wide s...

Re: Tanker Drivers Ballot 9th October 2020

Thanks for the heads up, I remember the nightmare during the fuel protests, it’s the last thing we need right now! It seems they are trying to lay off some tanker drivers and are blaming the pandemic, I can’t understand the thinking behind this, it’s as if they believe the economy is never going to ...

Re: Sainsburys Hubbard Foodstores

I have a few of these in, the tinned potatoes are good and we have tried the jam & marmalade, very cheap and the kids seem to like it. I’m a snob though and like my “posh” marmalade

I looked! I didn’t think the prices were too bad, :| considering the apparent quality. I feel I may have betrayed my Northern ideals and may have become without my knowledge a member of the “middle class” What’s next? Avacado’s? an Apple Watch? A cafetière? having said that my wife has a fet...

Re: Gadgets everywhere

My wife visited a well known coffee shop chain this afternoon, they took her order and payment (cash) but before they gave her the coffee the girl behind the counter said “you have to scan this QR code first” “Scan it with what?” “Your phone” “Sorry I don’t have a phone” Then began a lot of bemused ...

Re: Gadgets everywhere

Anyone else see this https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/bills/article-8706033/Smart-meters-used-switch-electricity-without-warning-compensation.html Thanks for the link, it’s what I had suspected all along. I’ve said for years that the massive push towards electric vehicles is going to bring down ...

Re: Gadgets everywhere

Totally agree, don’t get me wrong, we have “devices” etc at home but nothing that we can’t turn off or live without, certainly nothing that controls our home. We don’t have a smart meter and won’t be having one either, I just feel like a foreign power being able to hack our gas or electricity supply...
