Re: Storing/folding cash
Get a paper clip, straighten it out then fold it in half. Take two notes, fold them in half, put them through the paper clip and loosely roll them, so the paper clip is in the middle. Get a pair of pliers, leatherman etc and while holding the outside of the rolled notes, turn the paper clip to pull ...

Re: Where should I go in case when SHTF
Like many others I'm sure, I have thought about decamping to the woods with a rucksack full of survival gear carrying my favourite knife/leatherman/torch in my pockets. The reality is, though, that living in the South East its very densely populated and there are likely to be loads of other people a...

Why am I thinking of Porridge ?
Mr McKay foils a plot to tunnel out and he asks Fletcher what they did with all the spoil. Fletcher replies "They dug another tunnel and put it all in there".

Re: Prepping for long drive with toddler
In my opinion, a car is far more likely to need you to have prepped than a house : You will probably breakdown or have an accident a fair way from home (although one of my cars once broke down 200 yards up the road). You might have a long wait for a breakdown truck and/or a long journey back home. Y...

Re: SHTF: What Would You Grow In Your Garden?
I have some woods behind my house, full of wildlife. If I planted anything it would get eaten by the rabbits, squirrels, foxes, badgers, crows and the like.
when I can find someone to buy my house and move I hope to grow some spuds/onions/carrots etc

Re: Running to the hills
England has 395 people per square kilometer so you're likely to be sharing wherever you are with a lot of other folks, some of whom will be very interested in your shiny kit and bags of food. Far better, unless there's an actual physical threat, to stay in your own home and learn how to fortify it ...

Seriously thinking about getting another Suzuki Jimny next year; stick the right tyres on it and it's an incredibly capable off-roader.
I've owned dozens of cars in the past 37 years and, despite it's slowness, the Jimny was in the top three for grin-factor

What's the score on storing bottled water ? was thinking of buying half a dozen 5l bottles to go in the store.
Would I be better off getting some containers and filling them with tap water ?
