Re: £13 ebay hammocks, any good???

There seems to be a common theme here - start off with a cheapie to try then upgrade. I love my hammocks and won't sleep on the ground again. All I can add is if/when you try a hammock, plan to have some under-body insulation either an under-quilt or a sleep mat between the hammock and your sleepin...

Re: Plants With a Purpose.

Cheers Brambles, thanks for the tip. Book ordered. I notice he does a foraging book, have you read this one and do you recommend? Where we've moved to, there are sloes and these have been developing into a very nice sloe gin and I'm keen to do more with what's now in my plot, especially with turning...

Re: Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household

Here's a link to the first episode on R4 if anyone is interested. I'll give it a go myself. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007jr26 I thoroughly enjoyed the radio adaptation and on more than a few occasions stopped driving to listen without distractions and let my mind consider a few what-ifs. I w...

Re: Motorhome prepping

I often visit this thread because I believe I could truly contribute to a topic on Motorhome Prepping due to the fact I have been living in a two berth caravan with my wife and a labrador since April 22nd with no main power or water. However, this experience has been so harrowing, so extreme, so tes...

Re: What's the best cold weather camping sytem

Touch wood, I'm fairly well covered for cookers, took a smally gas one away last night and it was fine in about minus 4 with the bit of shelter provided by the tent from the light wind. Would love a Jetboil but I've got higher priorities, need a better inflatable mattress for starters. I can unders...

Re: What's the best cold weather camping sytem

I've been living in a caravan and sleeping in a tent for a few months and life is made almost bearable by the Jetboil. I don't think there's much out there that can get 500ml boiled in such a quick time. Handy for a rapid cuppa and also good for boil in the bag food. My mate swears by them and they...

Re: Rogue Male by Geoffrey Household

The Radio 4 Extra adaptation was very good, definite worth a listen if only for the 1930's bug out vehicle. Gripping story line throughout.
