Re: Snow issues

Luckily our wall is on the uphill side of the drive so on balance less likely to be hit, plus the opposite side of the road is muddy embankment so hopefully a preferred target if someone is forced to make a decision to swerve somewhere...

Snow issues

This is our second winter in the current house, last winter was pretty mild with just a smattering of snow but just an hour of the stuff this evening was enough to cause cars to struggle to drive up the hill we live on resulting in the neighbour outside in his shorts & wellies helping push cars ...

Re: Garage Freezer: Beware

We have two upright freezers in the garage that were inside in. our previous house - they seem to be coping so far, second winter though last winter wasn't that cold anyway. Will keep an eye on them but although I knew there were outhouse-specific units, I never did understand what it was about them...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

My source is the community Woodfuel project - working in local small woodlands thinning them out & "sharing the spoils" so it's a few hours graft but I'm happy to be outside, even if the previous session did rain all day. I was doing it last season but covid stopped it in its tracks so...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Gathered another (very) full boatload of Woodfuel today - I'm basically grabbing every opportunity at the moment in case we get a bigger local lockdown which will stop it dead. Looks like a good weather day tomorrow to get it processed as well.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Made the most of the great weather & cut/split/stacked my first haul of firewood. Think building another log store might be on the cards...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

Had the first wood-fuel session of the season today & came away with a nice boot-load of log that I shall look forward to processing on a drier day. Glad to see that plenty of thought had been put into Covid safety & common sense was observed throughout.

Re: What have we become?

Indeed it goes without saying that the vast majority of life's issues are caused by the vast minority of humans.

Re: What have we become?

But the concept just isn't hard to comprehend - stay away from people outside your immediate bubble - people KNOW who they spend time with on a daily basis, it isn't hard to work out. A case in point. Before lockdown started to ease our neighbours were commenting on how desperate they were to be abl...

Re: What have we become?

I just don't understand it - if only folks realised that "all" they need to is isolate as much as *reasonably practical for 2-4 weeks (at the same time) its would kill most of the virus transmission in its tracks, but because of the few entitled, the ignorant and the arrogant it's just goi...
