Hi fingle, welcome to the forum! Renewable energy is so important, isn't it - there should be quite a bit to get you started on the forum. Fat as a replacement for diesel is very interesting too, isn't it - let us know what you find in your research.

Hello nzbred, welcome to the forum! You're dead right, prepping is a way to add to your family's safety and wellbeing, in a lot of ways, especially with small children. Lots of parents on here, with offspring of various ages and needs.

Re: Became a prepper this week - Ebola concerns
I need to prep for infectious diseases every winter - I'm very prone to viruses, I get a couple of low grade ones every year, that lay me low for up to six months :( I've bought more surgical level stuff, but thats all - a lot of my preps are about making sure I don't need to go shopping during flu ...

Just found an interesting article in The Guardian about avoiding infection. They're not usually a paper that prides itself on towing the government line, so its all the more interesting: http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/o ... hing-ebola
especially about sweat and saliva.

Hello Maximus, welcome to the forum! And congratulations on the impending arrival, lovely news! Re: Hi from the Midlands
I've known of several long-time preppers who've moved countries, and they always talk about *decreasing* preps, because of transport costs, exactly as you say about a small kit with you. Good luck! Prepping is also - primarily, maybe - about learning skills to become more self reliant, and you can d...

Hello Sandia
Its a really individual decision, if it ever happens - there ae a lot of threads on the forum now about ebola, have a read through - maybe make a draft of what would you do if *this* happens, or *that* happens, and post it up for discussion?

Re: Collecting rain water to drink - help
Hi there Interesting reasons to collect rainwater! First off, how come you use so much? Treatment of anything - to drink, to eat, to fuel - takes energy and effort, so cutting down your use is actually the first thing (sorry! I realise you may not have wanted to hear that!). People certainly water t...
