Re: N.H.S. views and experiences
Most GPs of my acquaintance went into medicine to help people like you, Jansman, and will quietly prioritise anyone with a serious issue if possible. But they also see a flood of "worried well" and minor issues thanks to the non-stop horror stories in the press. These are always accompanie...

Re: Cooking during power outage
The first choice solution is the suitcase style GAZ stove 2nd choice is one of the old camping GAZ stoves with a big bottle (butane or propane) 3rd choice is the firepit 4th is the Coleman camping stove on unleaded. Re: Prepping when ill or infirm
Thanks everyone. It is good to know I can come and talk when I need to. There seem to be quite a few of us on here facing our own versions of SHTF from age or infirmity and we need to look out for each other. Although Mr GB isnt officially "terminal" he is in a situation where the only fut...

Re: Prepping when ill or infirm

Re: Aquaponics
I kept tropical fish for a good few years - they take quite a bit of care and knowledgeable attention to thrive. I never really progressed past the "easy" ones. Tried a bit of Kratky hydroponics last year. Worked well for windowsill tomatoes. Did not work at all for strawberries or courget...

Re: Aquaponics
There is the high tech system but variants on this theme have been around for thousands of years. One classic system involved draining the pond, (harvesting or moving all fish to a fresh pond) and growing a crop in the remaining fertile silt. Then swapping back later. The crop benefits from the rich...

Welcome to the gang. Most of us prep for the more likely horrors. It sounds as if you have already been learning from experience so are ahead of most of the UK. Have a look around. I think most topics are covered unless they are illegal in the UK which is a clear "No". As Arzosah said - sa...

Re: Waterbutt drinking water
Making water butt water drinkable CAN be done but it is a huge amount of work and special filters etc. Drinking water should be free of many things including bacteria, parasites, viruses, chemicals etc which is why it is hard to do. You can look at the specialist suppliers for aid work to see what t...
