Re: Money, money money

Do I keep a stash of cash at home ? Yes , we have a couple of thousand that is ready to hand and the rest is spread about over different accounts and banks . My mother didn't trust banks and kept a substantial amount in the house, and under the bed as well :o no burgler would have thought of looking...

Re: Anyone ever thought of buying an island

I suppose that for peace and security having a whopping great moat around your bit of land does sound ideal. It does however, impose some quite serious cost implications and can make day to day living pre SHTF more time consuming and generally akward. I also suppose it rules out many bug out plans a...

Re: Is growing food a waste of time?

It's possible those in power are actually getting the message about growing your own. Back in april this year minister David Heath was reported saying that food security and prices may result in Britains having to "Dig for survival" echoing the dig for victory call of the second world war....

Re: Hello I seem to be a prepper

Thanks unsure, 2011-12 wasn't the best of periods for me. I experienced unemployment twice in a six month period and lost both parents in the space of a month in the same time. As I mentioned earlier the time the term prepper wasn't known to me then but we had made provisions which saw us through it...

Re: Is growing food a waste of time?

I too don't think growing your own is a waste of time and if you save seed and make your own compost there's not too much wasting of money either. I'm not sure how the whole thing could be protected should there be gangs of hungrey people roaming the country, maybe delay planting (depending on the t...

Re: Hello I seem to be a prepper

If you can get past the "i want another civil war" mentality. Yes strange thing to want is another civil war.I always think it's a strange term anyway, there's nothing civil about war. I mentioned that I'd re-enacted and one lesson to be got out of history is the sheer pointlessness of mo...

Hello I seem to be a prepper

Hello. I've visited and lurked here for a while now and decided to finally sign up. In all honesty I hadn't really heard of the term prepping until the first series to be shown on National Geographic last year. Ok so I had a vague idea of some oddjobs building bunkers and filling them with guns acro...
