Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9

After the mini flood in the kitchen due to prolonged torrential rain I've assembled a simple flood kit comprising of floodsock, pump & bucket. Positioned next to a different door to the one that flooded so we don't have to open it to get the flood sock in place. Long term (but before winter) pla...

In fairness I do have a pass to go and play on my mbike and sit in a muddy field with some mates for the weekend.
I might need the diy time to allow my liver to recover! ;)

Re: Amazon Shopper Panel

Yes, I agree it sounds good. The horrible cynical bit of me wonders if amazon looks at what you're buying from the receipts and targets more advertising based on your purchases. Maybe I'm just thinking the worse of them?

Re: Amazon Shopper Panel

IF AMAZON ISN'T YOUR THING PLEASE JUST SCROLL ON BY, NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS. For anyone who is interested, you can earn £5.00 per month in Amazon credit by scanning 10 receipts onto the app. I joined in July and got a tenner off the slow cooker I've just bought. I also got an additional 25p for answe...

New house, new flood

The non stop torrential rain for the last 48 hours finally overloaded the drain soakaways and the level of water on the patio exceeded the height of the back door threshold resulting in a flooded kitchen. I am of course away but partner & daughters coped admirably. Flood sock ordered as a tempor...

Re: Solar vs wind for bio digester

I've been exploring 12v alternatives to the 240v pump and have found a 12v, 25w unit that'll work. By my (well, jenny's) sums this will require a 200w solar panel to comfortably charge a 110v deep cycle battery to allow it to run 24/7 (this is allowing for extended overcast days and manufactures exa...

Re: Solar vs wind for bio digester

I'm the original poster :D The 240v one works perfectly- probably something to do with never having been used  I am keen on trying out a 12v one though, price dependent. I'm still at work so unlikely to get a chance to tinker tonight (or Tomorrow) but will look at the rating plate and go googl...

Re: Solar vs wind for bio digester

Good idea - 12v would be simpler and more efficient. Not sure that ones up to job though. The diffuser is an 8" diameter aeration block, I connected it up last weekend to the pump in a very temporary fashion that involved a garden hoe and my wife sitting on my legs as i leant in and there was s...
