Re: Hand gel

Best not to use petrol in 'petrol' stoves, dirty fuel, spillage lingers, additives block the jet and it smells. Most of us in the 'stovie' community use fast panel wipe, burns very clean, no soot, no smell, less jet blockage; your stove will thank you. Make sure you get the FAST not slow version an...

Re: Hand gel

I use alcohol hand gel to preheat my MSR petrol stove before lighting. Much less soot than preheating with petrol. Re: Alarm for my back gate.

Although Andy's joking about arkwrights Bell maybe that is the best idea? If it tinkled everytime someone opens the gate it may discourage them from using it so often? Perhaps.

Re: Solar panel repair?

Let us know how it goes. Well so far it's very encouraging. Applied a layer of clear resin over the surface of the solar panel, it's taken nearly 72 hours to dry (temp has dropped significantly recently, 5° overnight rising to max of 10 in the day). Finish is very good - smooth & clear. I've ju...

Re: House Radiator fan

You get these for wood burners to sit on top. https://www.homebuilding.co.uk/buying-guides/best-stove-fan Not sure if your radiators would get hot enough though to work them? WP Good idea but I've just tried it (5°C and icy rain here and I had to give in and put the central heating on this morning)...

Re: Solar panel repair?

I've pulled the trigger on the resin, £16 from Amazon. It appears to be a pretty common repair judging from Google search. Yes for bio digester. Pump is in place & running from 130ah deep cycle battery. Topping up the battery periodically with car battery charger. I've built a breeze block enclo...

Re: Solar panel repair?

Thought about that (or a perspex sheet,). I think getting a sheet of glass (toughened?) the correct size would be expensive and hard to attach. Sheet of perspex could be an option, double the price though (£30 vs £15) and ensuring a watertight seal could be an issue, although the use of an adhesive ...

Re: Solar panel repair?

Next question - anybody have any idea what area 500ml of resin would cover? 1ml=1cm cube so (500*10)=5000cm^2 at thickness of 1mm? If panel is 120cm by 60cm it's area would be 7200cm^2. So would cover about 2.3 of panel at 1mm... or whole panel at 2/3mm thick. Substitute in your own panel size. I s...
