Re: Will there be food shortages in the UK?

I always think when I see things like this that, although well-intentioned, it's going to have the opposite effect to what the shops' hoped. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51883440 Indeed a big red button with do not press written underneath, The press caused the very panic they are now critic...

Re: Lockdown?

Meanwhile the over 70s are being put under house arrest this week. Preppers, send me sweetie parcels. I know we haven't decided if they serve any actual purpose but won't that take out a good proportion of the house of lords? How will we cope... Edit Joking aside but aren't there a lot of...

Re: Lockdown?

In the study published Feb. 18 in the China CDC Weekly, researchers found a death rate from COVID-19 to be around 2.3% in mainland China. That's my point 0.1% of what, total population? if we are talking total population and if China has 6 billion 2.3% would be almost 261 Million at the end of one ...

Re: Lockdown?

For my two penneth - the stats we are quoting here are by and large guesses, the experts do not know, the main figures from different countries we are hearing are confirmed cases, and deaths, no one knows how many cases altogether anywhere a doctor I know suggests the number who actually have it is ...

Re: Gloves and coronavirus

Yes I'm another one who gloves would be little if any advantage, I'm a face and hair touching type, and I'm trying to curtail it, and at the shops given that goods are out there by people, touched by other shoppers, and the virus is reported to be able to survive on hard surfaces for up to 24 hours,...

Re: Will there be food shortages in the UK?

The question is, is there enough slack in the system to cope with increased demand generated by the prospect of everyone needing enough at home to stay at home for 2 weeks ( once?) ? I'd say there will be major problems, the just in time system probably extends right back to the source in most cases...

Re: are you planning to hunker down to avoid ppl contact due to covirus

The projected length of the crisis means shopping still has to be done, and my son will still have to go to work, other than that we should minimize contact with others, this is like Russian Roulette - only with greater odds of getting shot, and lesser odds of dying, imagine your revolver has 6 cham...
