Re: New to UK Prepping - Have some experience elsewhere
Hi and welcome from the suburban North West. You make good points about the viability of going off grid in the Uk. Surely different from SA. See this video... https://uk-preppers.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=204667#p204667 Societal breakdown is a recurring theme. And so is disruption in food and ene...

Re: Winter car kit
Brilliant thread thank you. As a newer driver to possible snow conditions it's good to have this as a reference on what to prep for thank you! Thankfully this winter past i didn't really face any challenges but I drive good distances for work and wouldn't want to get stuck on rural Lincolnshire or N...

Re: New to UK Prepping - Have some experience elsewhere
Welcome to the forum! That's a great first post. You're absolutely right that prepping in South Africa is really different from the crowded UK. So living in East Anglia is a good start you've made :) I'd be really wary of calling what you're doing "prepping" - I'd advise you to investigat...

Re: Greetings from PPrep.
Hey there Pprep.
That was a lovely read going through the work you have done to prepare yourself and your household. Keep it up and I look forward to reading more of your posts and contributions!
Particularly on radio, it's on my to do list to get into but it's a big hold in my knowledge currently

Re: New to UK Prepping - Have some experience elsewhere
Greetings from Manchester. Most people on this forum seem to be adamant that they would never bug out. Personally I have a bugout bag that includes a bit of lightweight camping gear. There are several reasons you might need to bug out. 1. Authorities order evacuation of your area due to radiologica...

Re: Long-term storage of meats and fish? What options?
Most dried meats, like biltong, jerky, sun-dried fish etc can be brought down to under 15% moisture as you noted and can then be stored. The issue is, summertime temps can play havoc on storing these items and maintaining longevity, especially in a humid climate like the UK. One simple way to ensure...

Re: Self defence ideas
Beyond the normal points to keep on mind regarding vigilance, avoiding certain areas etc. I would advise getting a high lumen, small flashlight with a strobe button. When in the dark, pulling out and switching on a bright flashlight and pointing it into someone's eyes can give you vital moments to t...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
This week: Joined this forum and posted my initial introduction with some of my experience and the reason for rejoining the prepper community and to engage with like minded people. -Calculated pricing, caloric values and best practice purchases here in the UK for 1 week/month/3month supply ratios an...

New to UK Prepping - Have some experience elsewhere
Good afternoon all, I moved to the UK near two years back to get away from the issues in Southern Africa. I had prepped down there to a fair extent, including stores, physical fitness, joining prepper / security communities and had extensive bug out survival strategies, including locations, stores, ...
