Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

Also going to have to bite the bullet and find a plumber.. Stopcock in the house is jammed solid. Can't budge it and don't want to overdo it as it's very old. To add to the fun, the stopcock in the road doesn't fully close.. But once that's fixed, I can get the hot tap fixed that turns itself...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

The synology NAS provides storage, but it also runs Plex (media streaming) and Kiwix (so I have a local version of wikipedia). Plus some other services such as provisioning e-books / digital libra...

Think I need to get the battery replaced on the car. It's one of these eco stop/start jobbies. Even though it's warm and had some longish runs, the stop/start isn't kicking in. Had it serviced a couple of months back and the diagnostics flagged it as getting old. Unfortunately Fords are a bit picky...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

State pension goes up this month, about £40. They sent me a letter saying what that would be. Tax got taken off my two company pensions for the first time. It was as expected, 20% off each. This is because if you are on close to the maximum state pension, what you get now is close to the personal t...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

After cleaning the patio, I’ve just found the paving sand I have for the spaces is blown so that’s another trip to Dobbies at the weekend. Then when moving my chiminea, a load of bees flew out so I have been burning the wood off but I now need a further cover for it as the old one is full of holes....

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 13

Ouch! I’ve been cutting the grass and I’m away to start trimming up the communal spaces the council don’t want to touch but cause kids to walk on the road. Don’t get me started, Edinburgh Clowncil are as useful as boobies on a bull. I also need to get patio cleaner today and the hose for my Karcher...

Re: Home Solar System

I’ve found a smear or copperslip grease on high current connectors (ie vehicle engine earth straps) improves
connection and prevents corrosion, and could be beneficial but I haven’t tried it on our solar rig.
