Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

I microwaved some butter today. Got a new microwave. My old one had plastic peeling off inside at the bottom, and paint bubbling inside at the top. Very poor as only 2 years old, Panasonic. This one is Samsung, and has a 5 year guarantee on the inside, which is ceramic. It was £100 at Argos. It is £...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Trying to get my fitness back up. Didn't ride my bike much last year due to the roof saga. Did about 14 miles the other day, about 4 mile off road. And about 10 miles on Wednesday. Need to get back into doing other exercises as well, like pullups and pushups etc. I've put my exercise mat back out, a...

Ah, I'm with you. Combi also. I turn the heating side of it to OFF on the thermostat at the end of April, but the hot water still works.

Re: Pepper fail during power outage

Good job it was a temp outage and not teotwawki. You really got the central heating on in June? Forcast is getting warmer next week. Jet stream's been more northerly than usual. Sounds like all you need to do is not leave the key in the side door. Maybe do a daily check of that, or weekly, at least....

Re: Vehicle Preps

This might sound a bit OTT, but I have a couple of home made sheewees - a 2 litre laundry liquid container with a funnel I can hold. I was thinking about situations where I might be driving with my sister and get stuck on a motorway - that's happened to me before now - and as a woman, you can't get...

Re: Vehicle Preps

Hi medusa, similar (but not as extensive, in my car), but also have £50 in cash in case my wallet is stolen/cards stop working and also a length of pipe to put over the wheel nut spanner to get extra leverage otherwise wheel nuts are pretty well impossible to undo. I bought a short length of steel ...

No credit cards. No debt. No jobs to worry about losing. No mortgage. No need for savings really, too old to bother  No room for food preps! Can I just skip right to the jellybabies?  I hope you do have some savings. It's never too old to start saving a bit each month. J...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11

Went to my mum's, a long trek to Somerset by train. Borrowed a couple of things from prep gear. I have put them back, but this is something you should try to avoid. It was only little things like a couple of charging cables and a Dioralyte, so not expensive to buy extras for travel. So I'm gonnna tr...

Re: It's still about.

It's just bad luck if you get it. I got it when I'd not left the house. Second time I'd gone to a gig in London, but it hit me 48 hours after leaving my house, so I must have got it before leaving Manchester. Even then, only time I'd been out was to go to Sainsbury's. I wore a mask for that and the ...

There is a high chance of civilisational collapase in the next 20 years. There is a dedicated climate thread if you want to discuss that.
