I've found that butter freezes successfully for six months or so, if well wrapped.
I have bottled butter in Kilner jars.
An alternative could be ghee - can be made at home or bought in tins.

Re: Now I've seen it all (PotatoSmart)
I needed some resealable glass bottles for homebred so took one for the team and bought a case of grolsch. Win win 🏆 Another case of using the right thing for the job. I've long lost count of the times I've tried to get people to use the proper bottles for beer, elderflower champagne etc. I've had ...

Re: Now I've seen it all (PotatoSmart)
are only £5 full of coffee. Why would I pay £4 for an empty jar and end up throwing my kenco jars away? :? Kilner jars are for preserving by heat process - you cannot do that with coffee jars, Kenco or otherwise. To store dried goods in Kilners is to completely miss the point of them, and if that's...

Kilner jars for preserving are worth every penny, even if you have to pay full price - jars for life. In my (long) experience, nothing else touches them for quality and longevity. Look at them on a cost-per-use basis and they soon pay for themselves, Granted, new lids/seals can be required, but the ...

Re: Home brewing?
Been homebrewing for over 30 years, no kits though. Currently got cottage cider on the go, some mead maturing nicely and apple wine lined up for next week
Home made beer is well worth the effort, so much better than most you can buy.

Re: Long-term meat storage? Venison, rabbit, pheasant
Agree about the freezing option, again as long as it is done properly ie well wrapped to prevent freezer burn and in a freezer with a reliable power source. When shtf what would be used to power a freezer? Also the chance of losing it in a prolonged powercut - disastrous if you had a lot of meat in ...

Re: Long-term meat storage? Venison, rabbit, pheasant
It can be safely stored in glass jars by pressure canning (not the same as pressure cooking, and not by the water bath/oven method). Alternatively, it can be dried as pemmican or jerky. Key points are correct preparation (temperatures, correct jars, processing times etc) and correct storage conditio...
