Re: Which Dehydrater ... Or Even Do I Bother

Air and light are your enemy when storing dehydrated food, so that said, much as I like the idea of repurposing beer kits and pringle tins, they wont' be airtight. You could vac pack and then store in the beer tins. :) or use any airtight jar/plastic container.

Re: Which Dehydrater ... Or Even Do I Bother

Having just read your post in 'From Ration List to Meal Plan' about breakfast. Here's my 2p. ;) Portion control is a doddle with dehydrated food. There is far less waste and you can use as much or as little as you need. Dehydrated foods improve variety. I have recently been dehydrating grated Potato...

Re: Cooking - bugging in

I would +1 the gel fuel if you don't have much space. I have cooked a fry up with one as well as heating up water and heating up tins. It's not rocket assisted, but is very safe as it is in a solid state and suitable for indoor burning and can be used in any trangia type burner or in a pinch, a dol...

Re: Slug pellet ban

I'm on it, cheers. I've tried organic pest control too, didn't work for me either. We can still buy Ferric Phosphate slug control at about 5 times the price.

Re: Low-cost recipe blog

I used natural casings and minced the meat myself as you can control the quality and fat content better than using bought mince.
I flavoured one batch with Wild Garlic, a bit chefy, but god they were good!

Re: Hi - I'm making a film - permission to post?

I think your main problem in getting anyone to be interviewed is the fact that regardless of how you portray them, the waters have already been muddied. It doesn't matter that you may make a perfectly acceptable film, the fact is, the public at large have already had their minds made up by mainstrea...
