Re: Dried beans

Oh dear! I am sorry that didn't work for you. I think you most likely had too much liquid in the mix. We had that happen once or twice and it does make a soggy mess. The mix should be too thick to pour. You have to spread it out with a spatula. More like a cake batter than a pancake batter. The pict...

Re: Dried beans

I originally got the recipe here: https://www.powerhungry.com/2018/05/1-ingredient-red-lentil-tortillas-grain-free-vegan/ Since we now usually have a jug of blended lentils in the fridge it has also become the go to addition instead of flour to thicken gravy and made a good cheese sauce base with so...

Re: Dried beans

Our household is gluten, potato, corn, egg and chicken free due to food intolerances (I really wish it was just a fad but it's real) It does force creativity in cooking. On the plus side we have not not been bothered at all by the recent lack of bread flour and the red lentil pasta was the only type...

Re: Dried beans

The plan of pressure cooking batches of beans and freezing works well. It also makes bean use easy for anyone else in the house to use. (Looks at the son who is too lazy to chop an onion when cooking.) For red lentils, 1 mug full seems about equivalent to a pound of mince (Now I'm showing my age. I ...

Re: Reusing masks guidance

Or finishing with a soak in salt solution and leaving it to dry? The Canadian researcher who published in Nature showed that filters treated this way will destroy other viruses and there is no real reason this one would be different. This is the sciencey version https://www.nature.com/articles/srep3...

Re: Hi from London.

Hi All, I am within walking difference of the green belt in the South but work in Waterloo Lambeth so commute. We are 4 adults in a 2 bed maisonette with a a garden which makes all the difference. Re: Hi from London.

Interesting times. I unexpectedly found myself going into self-isolation/ work from home 14 days before the rest of the country as my family were ill. Thankfully no-one has been very ill. I had enough supplies in to not worry much although I would have liked a bit more chance to get last minute prep...

Hi from London.

Long term lurker Gillybee here. It seems time to make myself known and stop hiding.
I have been prepping in a small way since before I knew the word. I have learnt a lot on here and would like to join in the chat and share knowledge. I already feel as if I know many of you.
