Re: Wind and Hydro Generators

If small domestic turbines are much worse value than domestic solar, then why would the same not be true for massive installations. I.e why is the country littered with big windmills but fewer big solar farms? Is it that Wind power works ok at larger scale. or is it because of subsidies? There's qu...

That website in general is fab, really interesting perspective. Oh neat!

Re: What are you dehydrating?

Is grating the potatoes with a coarse grater to get flakes then blanching that worth trying? You'd have a lot of surface area and because they'd be so thin they'd be quick to blanch. Sorry if this just prattle, the great potato saga is currently my favourite thing to read on this site lol.

That's fascinating, and bravo for doing your due diligence! What's the mash like from dried blanched cubes? Not instant obvs, but quick?

Apparently (https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... rs-venture) going well, first reactors could be online by 2031.

Re: What are you dehydrating?

Dang it! I cannot get the hang of dehydrating spuds! Has anyone here successfully made their own instant dried mash by dehydrating their own spuds? Please tell me the secret! I don't know if this is of any use to you Jenny but I got a copy of the Ball Blue Book in Metric and they recommended the be...

Re: Help with garden allotment

I'm late, but I'm voting B as well - I've been reading up on security arrangements  and the line of sight shown in B means that more of the garden is visible from the house. Toe-rags really do use back gardens for access, often tramping across several back gardens in the meantime. Good point ...

That's a really good shout tbh, rich areas have by far the best charity shop finds.

Re: Help with garden allotment

Hi, I'm no gardener, but a difference is that with 'B' is that you could take multiple routes through from the paved area, to the end of the garden, say with a wheelbarrow. But with 'C' you could only walk into the brown area from left to right until you reach the West boundary wall or fence, then ...
