Re: New member

I knew you were in Scotland as soon as I saw your name. I love the Broons.

Re: Live on an uninhabited island and get paid for it.

OH saw this and asked if I fancied it. He was surprised when I said yes (but really it's not practical at the moment) and said, "but you'd be further from the boys." I am always complaining that we live too far from our sons. That has been very difficult in recent times. I can still dream.......

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Medusa, OH and I took early retirement a few years back and discovered that you can live well on a LOT less than those in the know say. Looking at our income, we were considered "poor" but as we have always lived within our means, we didn't feel the need to spend, spend, spend what we didn't have. O...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

Had the second dose today - now my arm is aching (same as after the first one). OH had his second last week so we are both up to date now. Looking forward to being able to visit family again!

Re: What made you become a prepper?

Until recently I didn't call myself a prepper, I just thought it sensible to have a few spare tins/packets of food there in case of unexpected visitors; I keep an emergency bag packed in case of having to leave home in a hurry for whatever reason and when I was working, kept supplies in my car in ca...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

OH had his last week and complained of aching - usual aches but more so. I'm quite far down the list but looking forward to getting out more and longing to visit family again.

Re: Considering the future

If you look on "Greenshifters" there are plenty of smallholdings for sale or rent so you can get an idea of what's out there. (In Europe aswell as Britain). Also have a look at "The Beechgrove Garden" a Scottish gardening programme, and see how much they manage to grow up near Aberdeen. When growing...

Re: Hospital Bag

If the likelihood is of being stuck there for some time, I would add your favourite condiments! Hospital food can be very boring (rice pudding on the menu 365 days of the year!) and although you probably wouldn't be bothered about such things initially, the lack of variety soon palls.

Also "A Wrinkle in the Skin" by John Christopher. Another old one ..... takes me back to my youth when I first read it.

Re: New Prepper Oxford

Rather than stockpiling nappies, get reusables. I'm still using some of the terry squares my children used (they're well grown up now) as cat towels. I think they are a brilliant resource as you can use them for so many other things than the intended ones. OH keeps a couple in the car as they are go...
