Re: Sipp

And a "trick" a lot of people seem to be using - if the interest your money earns would take you over a tax threshold, think about premium bonds as a place to stash your money, e.g. while you're waiting for the legalities to finish so you can buy the piece of property you have your eye on. There's ...

Re: Sipp

I have several pension pots spread all over, as you do when you flit from job to job, as I have done this last ten years. I have looked into what to do, and it is a bl**** complicated web! As you say, financial advisers are expensive, and my experience with them in the past has not been beneficial ...

Re: Breadmaking flour

Re: RING video doorbells

I have one. When we have work done to our house later this year I'm getting rid. Pros: You can use it as a security camera to check what's going on outside (here ? nothing. ever.) You can speak to people when you're not at home, ask them to leave stuff in the porch etc. Cons: The wifi is utterly s.....

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

My son and his GF had it last wednesday. They both felt terrible with headache and shivers on Thursday and very tired Friday.
Being a caring dad, I left it till Sunday to get them round and help me shift 800kg of ballast.

Re: Quorn meat substitute

The idea of ‘growing’ meat in a laboratory ( rather than a live animal on a farm) is an utterly repulsive idea. As a career butcher, if it came to dealing with that, then I am out It won't become mainstream for a generation or longer so you will likely be well retired by then. There are advantages ...

Re: Quorn meat substitute

By "factory grown meat" I was meaning something that isn't yet (but undoubtedly will be) commercially available. Farming animals for food is far more resource-hungry than arable farming, up to 12x for beef I believe, so we need to either persuade everyone to go veggie or find more efficient ways to ...

Re: Quorn meat substitute

As a long-time vegetarian, I never, ever eat "meat substitutes" of any description. What do you class as a "meat substitute" ? Personally I absolutely love Linda McCartney's sausage rolls (make me a bit windy but hey ho) and Mozarella veggie burgers. The thing I've not yet reconciled myself with is...
