Re: Writing a script for my EPQ Project

I could send you pictures of a cupboard full of tins, a decent set of tools and a grand in cash ?

If you want a bunker and a load of guns, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Re: Savings

Never rely on interest rates. A few years ago I used to holiday in Turkey and I got to know a few expats. Many of them had sold up in the UK, bought cheap in Turkey, stuck the difference in a savings account and were living on the interest. When rates started to go south, some of them started dippin...

Re: Meat tax

With this year being my 30th anniversary of going vegetarian, I'm all for it. Actually, I'm not, not really. Whilst it sounds good, we need to discourage people from eating cheap, mass-produced, factory farmed meat; we (and by this I mean a global "we") need to stop deforestation of the rain forests...

long life snack bars

Going through the car bag today and found a pack of date expired cereal bars. Whilst I'd still eat them if desperate, I'd rather replace them with something "in date". Is there anything out there that's a got a good shelf life, tastes ok and is reasonably cheap ? The alternative being a pack of chea...

Re: Will we end up in lockdown again?

Johnson said we wouldn't have a lockdown, then we did. Johnson said we wouldn't have a second/third lockdown, then we did. Johnson said people could meet up for Christmas and cases went sky high. A recent report said he had acted too late more than once (https://committees.parliament.uk/committee/81...

Re: Rising energy prices mitigation

Since we moved into a house with solar panels I've been very careful with electricity use, only use the washing machine or dishwasher during daylight and preferably when it's sunny. The income they generate seems to exceed (at the moment) the total cost of yearly electricity and gas so I'm in profit...

Re: The looming electric / gas shortages...

Rather glad I bought a bungalow with solar panels on the roof. At a pinch I could jury-rig it to provide power to a couple of sockets. It's only a 2kw system but it would be enough to run a microwave to heat up a dinner and keep torches/phones charged. We would be sitting round a wind up radio in th...

A bum bag with a few bits and pieces is now with me on every walk. When I was taken off I was ask...

Checking your bags

I don't have a Bug Out Bag as such, but I do have a Hospital Bag; Having been taken off to hospital on blue lights a few years back and having no time to grab anything except my phone I put a bag together. To cut a long story short, I checked it the other day and the tin of coke I had in it had burs...
