Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

After a 2yr hiatus (last year due to covid, previous year due to house move) I'm deep-cleaning the caravan as we had a couple of mice in there last year & she knows where they've been so I'm cleaning every millimetre I can reach with a cloth. Got half of it done this afternoon, will finish it off to...

Re: Article of the new rules around wood and coal burning for home heating

I knew there were changes on the way but hadn't been keeping up with it. Bit of a pain as I was planning on buying a bag of two of coal just to keep as emergence fuel as I have a reasonable stock (and supply) of wood fuel currently but we're peppers & plan for when such fuel isn't readily available....

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

A friends father (diabetic & heart issues etc.) had a serious eye issue recently resulting in permanent blindness in one eye, caused by a blood clot in his optic nerve. Anecdotal i know but a good proportion of the people i know who have either been ill with covid or have suffered side effects with...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

A friends father (diabetic & heart issues etc.) had a serious eye issue recently resulting in permanent blindness in one eye, caused by a blood clot in his optic nerve. Found out today that the doctors treating him have said they're now 100% certain the clot was caused by the vaccine (AZ) so they're...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I decided a few years back to use the Weber starters as they seem to have far less chemicals than others starters (or fluids) but when they run out I'll probably just stick with these which I use for the log burner & work REALLY well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B019H693FA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_se...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Helped with some charcoal production today in a retort at our local wood fuel community. Quite an interesting/therapeutic process, just a pity it really needs to be done a reasonable distance away from neighbours but I'll probably start using their charcoal (or even producing my own using my own fir...

Re: RING video doorbells

Admittedly mine is a bit technical but it's all local, nothing relying on cloud. I have a Reolink camera aimed at the front porch (amongst other cameras) which is recording to a Synology NAS. I have a Shelly DW2 Door/Window sensor on the porch door (and other doors/windows). I run HomeAssistant (HA)...

Re: RING video doorbells

I definitely have nothing against gadgets, I have a door sensor on the porch door with notes to delivery companies to leave parcels in the porch, and whenever the porch door is opened I get a notification & a snapshot from my CCTV within about 5 seconds - I even get it, with photo, to my watch :-) I...

Re: RING video doorbells

They don't have a very good security track record at all, I'm very much into my smart home kit but wouldn't have one.
