Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I remember on here someone marking the BBE date with sharpie on their boxes. I think I'll do that. Yes. I suggested that. Maybe someone else did too. I use a few rather fat permanent marker pens and write the BBE date VERY conspicuously on everything. Much easier than trying to locate the often fai...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Hmmmmf. Spending the week busily sampling some of the older stuff from my stash. Corned Beef, Tuna and big soups are fine. No issues with old tinned tomatoes where I was expecting them to degrade. but no: They are fine. Ancient pasta and rice are fine. I'm sprouting some quite old mung-beans to make...

5p flour in Asda

Looks like Asda are desperate to flog off their Brexit stash of flour.

5p per kilo?? at local Asda ( North west region ) and they had plenty. BBE Next month, but who cares about that.
At a push, make some batter or pastry and freeze it?

Pancakes for breakfast at chez JJ for the rest of summer.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

No idea on the timescale. Not even a guess The decline has already started . Tend to agree that it has already started and it probably gives plenty of ammunition to argue as to when the decline started in the same way as the argument as to when the second world war started. It could be the early 70'...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Can hug me if you want. Never say no to a hug! Introducing the proxy-hug..... I hug some random person near to me and ask them to pass it along, and you do likewise. Eventually the huggers meet in the middle completing a chain.   Have to admit I haven't fully thought it through. But...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I have to agree with you both. The planet can not sustain life as it is. Energy, climate change all of it will end in some sort of apocalypse whether it be pandemic, war or anything else Oh hum....... So to recap...... 3 of us anticipating apocalypse. no-one shouted us down yet. Someone... Anyone??...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Not saying it will be soon, but the clock is ticking. I think really 'we will see' in our lifetimes. Agreed. Governments KNOW we won’t give up our lifestyle. That is why the placate us with their platitudes. Like the start of the fall of the Roman Empire; Give the people bread and circuses. Well Ja...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Several posts I have made, I have stated that we will be forced back to an almost medieval existence. We shall see.We certainly cannot live as we do now, and that lifestyle is quite recent. I concur. But globally, that's not going to be acceptable to anyone. Resistance would lead to populist, hawki...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Considering the national grid was at breaking point as it was in the early 2000s, I'm not sure how it would cope with people using it to charge their cars as well. Even renewable energy has its back ups And with that thought in mind, a couple of years back, I invested in National Grid shares. I ass...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Here is an article that explores, the naive belief that society can merely substitute one energy source for another- and carry on regardless. https://consciousnessofsheep.co.uk/2021/05/13/are-you-still-buying-this/ Oh WOW! He said it out loud. What even we preppers try not to see and what our leade...
