Re: Equipping a vehicle

I had this conversation with husband last night and said that we need to fix the seatbelt cutter in. It currently lives in the door pocket, but would obviously fall out if we were upside down. Decided to go with the MSR pocket rocket 2 stove wise, also bought a Lixada cooking pot to boil water in, a...

Equipping a vehicle

We have a pickup truck as we are campers and also tend to cart around firewood and other items. It has a roller shutter fitted and so we cannot fit one of the dedicated metal toolboxes. There is limited storage inside the truck and so I bought one of the swing cases which fits over the wheel arch, i...

Re: Quality warm blankets

I second the Snugpak Jungle blanket. We use them in the bell tent as an added layer. Lightweight, warm and waterproof. Considering buying a couple more to keep in the car.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Ive spent today in the garden, planting carrots, brocolli, caulis and cabbage out and moved bell peppers and chillies from upstairs into the greenhouse also ordered another lot of nematodes as we seem to suffer with vine weevils. I have been a bit lax on the prepping front recently and badly need to...

Re: 2 Person tent

I have the Vango Ark 200 & 300 great little tents amongst my tent collection which I use for festivals although Im getting a bit old to be crawling in and out so just bought myself the Pomoly Hex, tipi style hot tent. We bought a bell tent a couple of years ago now and use a stove in that too. Light...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Ordered a new garden gate from our fabricator last July and some additional metal work for the garden wall. After many texts and phone calls, it finally arrived a couple of weeks ago and was well worth the wait. Now known as "have you locked the big gate?" Also had the security alarm serviced so fee...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I've got a food shop being delivered tomorrow, and I was adding to it tonight - but not nearly as much as I wanted. All sorts of things were showing as available, but it wouldn't let me add them, "no online stock". Jam, soy products, maybe a dozen things, I've never had that before. There'd trouble...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I also have tomatoes, chillies and bell peppers which I have just transplanted in our spare room. They are doing really well, but Im just not looking forward to the hardening off process when I have to spend ages taking trays of seedlings out to the greenhouse and bringing them back again every nigh...

Re: Heating your house in the future

I have been thinking about this myself. We have oil heating because the folks before us who bought the house didnt have the gas piped to the house, although its at the end of the drive. United Utilities quoted us £2k to install plus the cost of a boiler many years ago which with 4 kids and only one ...
