How long is safe?

I read about the water BOB things and water bricks and really wanted to invest in a few, however I could not justify the cost especially as I couldn't find a UK supplier and the carriage charges from abroad were horrendous. I found these and bought a couple https://www.amazon.co.uk/Collapsible-Porta...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

After reading the thread on TS007 3 star door lock barrels I insisted that we replace the current euro lock type in our door as it has been worrying me for a while. We live in a currently, fairly quietish crime wise area, although once a year around Christmas there are a spate of burglaries, much th...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

we have found we go to bed earlier and get up earlier though whether this will be the case when nights get brighter I don't know. Being somewhat of an insomniac I always find that camping sorts out my sleep pattern within a couple of days. Retire pretty much at sunset and up soon after sunrise. Hop...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

To add to the fruit trees I have bought a rhubarb plant, herbs and strawberry plants. Going to give this a go and see how it turns out, slowly but surely. Hubby has agreed that we need water butts and that will be out next investment over the coming weeks. I'm planning on having at least two in a ro...

Re: Taxi Apps.

I know that there has been a lot of controversy around Uber but their app saved us from being stuck in another city and an expensive hotel bill after cancelled trains last year. As a female who enjoys travelling and going out solo, taxi apps where I can book online, am given the car reg and model, o...

Re: How did you became interested in prepping?

So, this may sound odd to some but I am a bit of a worrier. Being organised and prepared helps me to worry less. I am responsible for H & S at work which has (Head Office Policy) to include a contingency plan for various emergencies. Because of how I think it comes naturally to consider worst ca...

When your SO completely fails as a prepper (light hearted)

I have been away from home for a couple of days. I left on Saturday as the snow and wind started to take a hold and jokingly said to hubby that there was plenty of food, water and toilet roll plus a couple of meals to heat up in the fridge, candles, torches and an oil lamp in case of need whilst I w...

I have fruit trees!

Whilst the wish list is to have an orchard it just isn't possible where I live now. I have just been gifted a dwarf apple tree M27 Discovery and a Pixie Victoria Plum tree. I am very excited even though it is unlikely we will get much if any fruit this year. Not enough to keep us fed for very long b...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

Our son finally moved into his own place shortly before Christmas (2 down, 2 to go) cutting our milk bill in half and lessening the mucky fingerprints over cupboard doors and the fridge and dirty footprints on the kitchen floor. We also, for the first time have a spare room in the house which I clai...
