Re: Water filtration for home

I've got some 25 litre food grade containers for water. what's the best /easiest way to fill them? thanks. I have several of these stacked in the shed in the dark - they're opaque and so would let light in and promote algae growth otherwise. I am a reasonably strong 5'2" woman and when full of...

Re: The most over looked piece of kit

I'll add to Waffle's post: Take a look at the British BCH, they to should come in all sizes (and three width fittings) as they were issued to all branches (including the Wrens etc) ..... They're also rugged and hardwearing as hell (it takes me a couple of years of daily use to wear the tread out) a...

Sigh - I can only dream! If you google, say, Tiso and look for boots size 33 (1 1/2) it will come up with an extensive list of one - Kids All Terrain Texapore Boot. Re: Solar Power

Does your solar charging for iPods etc. have to be portable? If not you could look at a small off-grid permanently sited solar setup. I have one on top of my car port :D A 60Watt panel (I chose to have the larger, thin film panels as their output is better under Britain's greyer skies in the winter)...

Re: Hello from an urban prepper in London

Many thanks for the warm welcomes :) . The Amanda Ripley book is very much worth reading, as it's about how the brain and body work when faced with a disaster, which is not necessarily how you'd expect them to work, and the often simple reasons why some people survive and others don't (like the shy,...

Hello from an urban prepper in London

Morning all, I have been a long time lurker on the board and thought that I probably ought to join in properly. I am a 40 something woman living and working (in IT) in London. My potted prepping history dates back to my childhood: I am an army brat and my father was one of the ones involved with the...
