Re: Cannabis for pain relief
Was backtracking through some old bookmarks and this thread popped up. Tried thc oil from Releaf last winter for my arthritic knee- could barely squat down. Within a week I was sleeping through the night without waking up stiff. No comparison to the usual paracetamol routine.

Re: Keeping your preps stocked due to cost of living
I focus on the basics first: rice, beans, oats, flour, oil. Everything else is “nice to have” but not essential when budgets are tight.

Re: Buy or build a Home First Aid Kit
Late reply, but I solved the problem with a session at Solutions Training & Advisory Ltd. Once I understood what’s actually essential in a home first aid kit, I stopped wasting money on sets full of useless stuff.

Re: Solar power stations/generators.
I’ve been looking into solar power stations too, and from what I’ve seen, they’re great for small stuff like charging phones or running lights, but running things like dehydrators or pumps can be tricky unless you get a really powerful setup. The battery quality matters a lot—like you said, a worn-o...

Re: Baofeng Uv-5R Dual band with a 2m/70cm foldable antenna
Yeah, the UV-5R is pretty popular for a reason — solid little radio for the price. I’ve messed around with programming mine using CHIRP software; it makes it way easier than doing it by hand. If you’re in a valley with hills around, that can definitely block signals a lot. Maybe try setting up some ...

Re: Cannabis for pain relief
"For anyone looking for something easier than flower or oil, I switched to high-potency CBD gummies – they’re easier to dose and gentler on the stomach. I take them in the evening, especially when the pain is persistent and I need proper rest. I found some really effective options at this well-...

Re: Ultraprocessed Foods - Open Food Facts.
It’s shocking how much salt is hidden in everyday processed foods. Like you said, something as simple as a can of beans or a slice of bread can contribute to so much of the daily recommended intake. If you’re concerned about these ingredients, according to this site , it’s definitely worth looking i...

Re: Deciding what foods to store in what quantities
One thing you might also consider adding, if you haven’t already, is a simple rotation calendar or visual system to make it easier to track expiry dates at a glance. That could help prevent waste and ensure you’re rotating stock efficiently, especially for the foods your family doesn’t consume regul...

Re: Are we being misled about freeze dried kit portions in days?
Canned food is cheaper than freeze-dried, but I rarely eat it, so rotation is hard. My family only consumes 1–2 meat cans and 8–12 fish cans a year, and they won’t allow storing expired food. So even with a perfect rotation, I wouldn’t build up enough reserves. On the other hand, I regularly use pr...
