Re: Geiger Counters & Dosimeters
I've a couple of Geiger counters mostly for scientific interest rather than prepping. Some thoughts: 1) Generally, you get what you pay for. 2) Decide what you want to measure- alpha needs a mica window tube. Most of the SBM-20 tubes do gamma and some "stronger" beta. 3) The idea of detect...

Re: Temu quality lighting and blades
On topic of Chinese tools, I received a Daicamping DL30 multi-tool from AliExpress. £35 inc delivery, seems well made, there are a few "unfinished" edges on the handle which are slightly sharp and one of the hinges of the pliers is a bit rough sounding when deploying/folding pliers. Not ye...

Re: Power banks
Update: took it back because it only charged my earphones for 30 seconds. Update 2: My earphones only charge for a few seconds with my other power bank! They only keep charging with the mains! Battery must be dying. They are old. Update 3. Undid the refund and got my Juice 3 back from Argos. Update...

Products on these sites are so variable, that without specific product recommendations, broad statements singing the praises of an entire product category are fairly worthless. Even specific products are liable to change with no notice, and the photos/description not updated, this is done through ma...

Re: Best head torch on AA battery?
When you say "80%" full, how are you measuring that ? If it's by voltage (1.2v ish) then your batteries are almost done. I had a load of second hand AAs that my Mrs got from work (recovered kit had to have new batteries fitted before going back out and some of them were nearly new). I mea...

Re: What Knipex pliers size will you choose?
Reviews mentioning poor quality control have prevented me getting some of these already. Seems like the 100mm has max width of 21mm and 125 has 24mm which seems like a small increase.
Perhaps I'll pick up the 125 if there's a black Friday deal...

Re: Bio fuel mini stove TRANGIA
I've had one of those aluminium pan support and trangia style burner, as per the link, for a number of years (7+ years?)... back then it cost about £8 delivered. Had lots of use out of it, making tea/coffee when out and about. I've replaced the rubber o ring once, after I melted it trying to snuff t...

Re: Wind and Hydro Generators
Great topic, first thing that sprung to mind was the small ones on some boats moored up in a harbour, I guess for keeping the battery trickle charged over winter? Most webpages give unrealistic peak output figures. I found this page had monthly Ah numbers for data they recorded in 2016, total was 16...
Re: Batteries
Either the cell is not making contact while the pair are discharging, or it's a faulty cell. I didn't Google reviews for your charger but Xtar seem to be fairly trustworthy brand, so I'm assuming not a faulty charger. Definitely get cells from reputable suppliers, the ones bundled with tat on eBay/A...

Where are people buying their bleach from? All I can find in supermarkets is scented and or thick, neither of which are suitable.
