Re: Prepping Disasters & Epic Failures?

Ah! Another one! Wheat and barley intolerance. Had a couple of instances when the stores had no FreeFrom pasta/bread/flour all at the same time. Taught myself to make my own pasta (it’ll do) but really make sure I’ve got plenty of each now. I’m isolating now but at least I can comfort myself with a ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Thanks for reminding me! Need to put blankets, spare food , clothes and drinks in. Pump tyres up and check oil. I want to get one of those little heating elements you plug into the lighter so I can have a nice hot drink if I’m stuck. Any recommendations?

Re: Mental Health.

A few years ago I was burned out and had complex PTSD from work. I took a year out, enjoyed more time with my family, joined a choir, started pet-sitting and just chilled. I learned to stop feeling guilty that I wasn’t running around after everybody else and deserve time for MY stuff. Now I’ve got a...

Charged up the rechargeable batteries for emergency lights and torches. We’ve got a wind-up torch and lantern, too. Pumped the tyres up and checked oil. Stocked up on pantry stash. Need to stock up on First Aid supplies! Off to the shops tomorrow...

Really great to hear you’ve succeeded in growing food successfully, it’s something I’m struggling with - mostly time and the awful clay soil. Glad you’re ok!

Re: Eat like a Peasant?

I remember my Dad telling me about his upbringing. He was one of 9 children. Grandad was a slaughter man and would steal a couple of birds and swap them with a friend for stolen vegetables! It was the only way they ate sometimes. Grandma grew veg in a small garden. Water from a well in the garden. A...

Re: Living without money

Moneyless living can work very well if you already live around people who barter/give/swap stuff. Quite frugal myself, I pride myself on my jumble sale/car boot sale/ free cycle lifestyle. One of my favourites is about a teaching assistant who lived for a year on a pound a day, minus house bills. Ve...

Coffee!! Thankfully we have loads of tea and our daughter would vote for Cola. Hubby would vote for chocolate or crisps.
