Re: Will we end up in lockdown again?

I can't personally see a full on lockdown being reinposed. There are medical experts saying we should but i feel the "money men" will push harder for the economy to be kept open. There appears to be logic with both approaches and it puts the government , any government , in an awkward position. Ther...

Re: given the news over the past few weeks

I've always been a bit of a hoarder with regards to things like that. Collected over the years , there's still some stuff left but the biggest part i've used. At the start of the pandemic the supermarkets dropped the petrol to 99p a litre , i brought what i could , ahem legally of course, but that h...

Re: given the news over the past few weeks

Not really done anything differently if i'm honest. I have fuel stored , food stored and stocks of other stuff too. The house is insulated and we try to be frugal in energy use and driving and try not to waste food and any waste is converted to compost. At work anything useable isn't chucked in the ...

Re: Rising energy prices mitigation

One guy i work for told the plumbers to leave any mastic to me as "he enjoys it" . That was going a bit far though i do seem to manage to do a decent job. One thing i'd add to Andy's comments is to keep the end of the nozzle clean , wipe any mastic off the outside before doing a run . I tend to feel...

Re: E10 petrol potential problems!

There's the argument that even though it's less mpg it's also less fossil carbon being released. Ethanol is part of the current carbon cycle , all about the isotopes to get technical. However , personally i think it's less about the environment and more about stretching out the supplies of oil. We'v...

Re: E10 petrol potential problems!

In the youtube video there were questions asked about what one does with the water , alcohol with a bit of petrol mix that is removed from the original mix. I fear some would just pour it down the drain which would be pretty stupid in all honesty. Getting the alcohol out of the water would useful if...

Re: E10 petrol potential problems!

I don't tend to look at youtube very often and it was a poster on another forum that pointed these videos out all about removing ethanol from petrol. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=b9mLbuUSt-0 Make of it what you will. I'm in two minds myself. Obviously one will lose a little over 10% of the volume o...

Re: Home security

One thing that always makes me smile is where people will turn the to hinge upside down , put on bolts and padlocks but ignore the slotted in fence panel next to it.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

On the facebook group there have been more light hearted suggestions . For example someone said to paint it like a police van ( illegal i know but it was in jest) only to be shown examples of stolen police vehicles. Other suggestions have included a waste collection service for women's public toilet...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I'm a member of a facebook group concerned with tool and van theft. It's depressing when one sees the efforts some go to to steal. Peeling the doors seems quite common and i've seen pictures of vans that have had their roofs cut open. I'm lucky in that i'm able to park close to the house , it limits...
