Re: Equipping a vehicle

Thanks for the replies with regards to the folding shovels although i still not totally convinced by the space saving argument. I suppose i'm over blessed with spades and shovels as i have six in the van. Standard shovel , standard spade , narrow short handled spade , copy of a military folding spad...

Re: Equipping a vehicle

One question . I've seen it mentioned several times , a folding shovel. Why a folding shovel? It's a car so why not carry a proper full sized one . There's the space to carry it and should it be needed a full sized one will do a much better job.

Re: Equipping a vehicle

I bought a Coleman multi-fuel stove with the intention of putting it in my car kit...... Now I've got a car again, perhaps I need to fix this prep-fail. The idea was the car runs on petrol and so can the stove. I have a 10ltr demi-jerry that I keep full so all I'd need to feed the stove is a beaker...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

My anecdotal "evidence " comes from a somewhat limited pool. Despite the reports of tens of thousands of cases i know perhaps a dozen or so who had definitely had covid and probably the same who think they may have had it but were never even tested. Of this handful 3 or 4 were diabetic and only two ...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

A friends father (diabetic & heart issues etc.) had a serious eye issue recently resulting in permanent blindness in one eye, caused by a blood clot in his optic nerve. Anecdotal i know but a good proportion of the people i know who have either been ill with covid or have suffered side effects with...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

Seems to be something of a lottery with side affects too , even with siblings. A couple of male friends of mine ( brothers) had the AZ and both were fine but their sister was unwell for a couple of days. Another friend was fine but his twin brother was as sick as a pig. We've both had the AZ but my ...

Re: Who's getting the vaccine

Got mine last week too . Anyone had any side effects? I had a bit of unsettled sleep the night after but no aches , pains or anything else. Mrs G seems to have the same problem with sleep although that might be down to other things. I ran into a friend yesterday , he had no side effects but his twin...

Re: When to use your food stash

Firstly give it a shake to see if there is still liquid in it. That should tell you if the seals are still ok if there is. Try turning the valve , does gas come out of it or is it seized? If you want to keep the stove itself but not the canister then i'd disconnect it and let it degas outside. If it...

Re: When to use your food stash

After saying that we use and replace from what we store there are always , shall we say , hiccups. We'd sort of overlooked some tins which are now past their BB date , talking about five years here. Positive side it does give us the chance to see just how well things last. Not of the tins show any d...
