Also I want it to be balanced as such as with three growing kids they will need a varied diet to grown up healthy. Or at least covering basic food groups!
Tea, Grease, Starch, Stodge and Burnt Crispy Bits

Balanced= plate in one hand, mug in the other

Re: 2 Person tent

Like Rik says buy tents at least one 'man' larger then you need, I don't know exactly how big the tent manufacturers 'Standard Man' is but its slightly smaller then the actor Peter Dinklage. Also (again as Rik says) If wild camping is a new thing for you don't spend a bundle on your first tent, quit...

Re: I'm a newbie

You'll notice that everyone develops a particular area in which they overprep, looking at Yorkshire's torch collection for instance or my excessive (alledgedly) quantity of tools..... Don't worry, this is normal ;) Have a look around on here and remember the only stupid question is the one you don't...

Re: When to use your food stash

I've had one like this (not quite as rusty). As several people have said, dump the can well away from everything and let it outgas...... Empty cans can go into recycling Then check the rubber 'doughnut' seal around the spike, if thats torn, cracked or rotten (it'll be slimey and/or stuck to the can)...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Ah cool. I wasn't sure about storing tap water in bottle and was buying 5l bottles for a couple of quid when I went to the shop but thst works as well! Yes I'm sure the teenager eldest would happily drink more fizzy drinks in the aid of prepping I run the tap until I can smell chlorine then fill th...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Been repairing one of my sheds...... Actually, rebuilding is probably nearer the mark as I've pretty much had to replace the roof (with some fancy plastic stuff I got for free) and three walls (being planked out with pallet boards... Also free).

Re: Out of interest home security

Not trying to be rude but do you own or rent ? (I know Jersey has some 'interesting' rules on property) That makes a difference as to what you can do. However, measure up your windows and have precut boards (marked so you know which one goes where) stashed somewhere you can get to them. If you need ...

Re: Fishing

I mentioned this thread in passing to Herself, she told me that her Ex used to breed his own maggots.
All you need is couple of warm days and a bit of liver in a box outside (she only objected to the bait-box being stored in her fridge...... Proves just how tolerant she is :) ).

Re: bayonet fitting light bulbs

I buy bulbs either online or from my local hardware shop.

Were these incandescents? I only really use LED ones nowadays
