Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

We finally got our new peat bank allocated to us, so we have spent many hours over the last 2 weeks up there. Digging peat for winter fuel is heavy work at first but well worth the effort. We normally burn wood that I can source almost for free, but peat burns better and for longer. Hopefully we ca...

Re: Security

Actheise: First of all, I'm glad you came through it OK If you hang things on the walls (Pool cues, Granddad's sabre, deactivated or antique guns or WHY) make sure that they're all well fixed, after all you don't want Mr Dodgy to thump you with your own stuff...... You knowing that your hockey stick...

Re: Equipping a vehicle

One question . I've seen it mentioned several times , a folding shovel. Why a folding shovel? It's a car so why not carry a proper full sized one . There's the space to carry it and should it be needed a full sized one will do a much better job. I've used a folding shovel to dig a car out of a drif...

Re: Equipping a vehicle

At the risk of opening one's mouth and sounding like an idiot... Do glass breakers and seatbelt cutters not need to be within reach of driver/passengers...? My seatbelt cutter/window breaker tool is in the pocket behind passenger seat so I can reach it from the driver position, though thinking abou...

Re: Equipping a vehicle

I bought a Coleman multi-fuel stove with the intention of putting it in my car kit...... Now I've got a car again, perhaps I need to fix this prep-fail. The idea was the car runs on petrol and so can the stove. I have a 10ltr demi-jerry that I keep full so all I'd need to feed the stove is a beaker ...

Re: Choice and sources of Jars

The chips of glass are rather like flakes from flint knapping - I find they come off the lip of the main jar at the front, where the wire around the top of the jar is bent 'forwards' towards the lever mechanism. I'm all ears if anyone has any solutions, I hate these small flakes of glass. If they'r...

Also I want it to be balanced as such as with three growing kids they will need a varied diet to grown up healthy. Or at least covering basic food groups!
Tea, Grease, Starch, Stodge and Burnt Crispy Bits

Balanced= plate in one hand, mug in the other

Re: 2 Person tent

Like Rik says buy tents at least one 'man' larger then you need, I don't know exactly how big the tent manufacturers 'Standard Man' is but its slightly smaller then the actor Peter Dinklage. Also (again as Rik says) If wild camping is a new thing for you don't spend a bundle on your first tent, quit...

Re: I'm a newbie

You'll notice that everyone develops a particular area in which they overprep, looking at Yorkshire's torch collection for instance or my excessive (alledgedly) quantity of tools..... Don't worry, this is normal ;) Have a look around on here and remember the only stupid question is the one you don't...
