Re: Lessons from a 100 hour power outage

Such a double act on the torches

I saw the rec for a head torch - just ordered one from Wilko, only two modes not four, but it comes on the same delivery sheet, so I'll live with that.

Blimey, you lot love UCO candles!
I'd never heard of them 8-) :? I googled, obvs, and found lots at the bushcraft store. Interesting! But they look mostly for travel, with all that neoprene, so a torch would probably be better for me. I like the reflector though, thats nice.

We do take my daughter to and back to work but it's only around five miles and we're frankly happier to do that rather than her using the bus especially late at night.
You're right, there are some things still worth spending money on.

Re: How is everyone dealing with rising prices?

I buy at the cheapest delivery-friendly supermarket round here, which is Asda. I book the deliveries that are the cheapest - thats usually Tues and Weds early and mid afternoon, £2, just gone up from £1.50. I use frozen veg, for simplicity's sake, it's very good value. Texture can be dodgy, especial...

Re: north east england

Welcome to the forum - I'm glad you got by so well with the effects from Storm Arwen, good for you. As you're a nanna, you're probably not the "run away to the hills" type dreamer, especially with 3 kids, and you sound like you're already doing really well. But there's probably lots still to learn o...

Re: Self Care

Interesting article in The Guardian today about non-covid general health issues during the pandemic https://www.theguardian.com/society/2021/dec/02/the-pandemic-body-how-the-covid-era-changed-us-from-hair-loss-to-weight-gain Only a few action points there, just an awareness that all these things are...

... perhaps you should try to remember how to give link to something that backs up what you are saying as frankly the claim that over 45's are off work appears to be nonsense. I don't know anyone that age who isn't working if they can.
+1, for sure.

Good stuff, Mouse!

In the interests of fairness, I should point out that the proper Lloyds discount code, for the full website, arrived today, so I'll be looking at that tomorrow.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Just ordered my first set of FFP2 masks, sadly from Amazon - Lloyds Pharmacy website didn't want to give me the 10% discount they offered me off their own bat. Also got some steri strips, and then a little tub of Vaseline to get me over the free delivery limit (Martin Lewis has a link to a bit of so...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

I just harvested the last of, and bulk of my beetroots and I'm pleased as punch! :D ... This is the biggest crop of anything I've ever grown. I know. Pathetic*, aren't I, but I feel like a proper gardener now. Have carefully rinsed them and set aside in a basket to let them dry out. *Took a photo, ...
