Re: Self Care

HONEY I thought I'd have a looksee at honey for self care, as mbbaltic/Lil said about using it. Classic references only, as usual. The main NHS website is disappointing in this respect: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/weaning-and-feeding/foods-to-avoid-giving-babies-and-young-children/ It's simp...

We do need to look after ourselves otherwise what use will we be to others and ourselves?
So true - just like the classic advice from the airlines about putting your own oxygen mask on first, before you help anyone else, even children that you're responsible for.

Re: Self Care

I remember that film Lil. You said at the time he should have put honey on the cut, it's a natural antibiotic. That's a good addition to the thread, thanks for that, honey can stop a problem becoming a mortal problem. My SIL died last month from an inoperable cancer. She had been having bowel issue...

Re: Self Care

A conversation with a doctor recently she said if it runs In The family then it's a high chance your get it now matter what precautions you take . 😳 Genetic predisposition, I guess. Still not a certainty, though, and the same self care might protect you from other things anyway. Are you currently s...

Re: Self Care

And now ... bowel movements  Yes, I know, most of us (including me) have a toddler-sized IQ when it comes to this, but there are Genuine Issues. I've tried to focus on authoritative sources, but I was losing the will to live, which is not good given the title of the thread, so here we go. ...

Re: Self Care

Was there not a film on tv ages back about preppers post argmageddon where the hero died of an infected cut hand? This is how it happens and what we need to watch out for. Wouldn't surprise me, Lil, though I don't recognise it - so, yes, one element of self care is definitely noticing cuts and prot...

Re: Self Care

I will put my hands up and say I am poor at self-care. The whole covid-shielding omnishambles completely ruined my fitness levels and I'm finding really hard to improve them, to the point that it's also affecting my asthma. I've put a fair chunk of weight on and it's not going anywhere. Thanks for ...

Re: Self Care

Exactly, like both of you, I'm older, and nowadays problems that are "minor", ie non life threatening, are right at the back of the queue, even though they have a huge impact on quality of life and your ability to look after yourself. So high dose vit D like Lil uses are a really good idea. Jansman ...
