Re: Sipp

I deal finance at work, and I thought that was bad - dealing with sub-projects, pre-payments, etc., it is nothing like the complexity of the pension system. You could almost think it was designed to be deliberately complex so people could not understand, and financial advisers could earn a small fo...

Re: Sipp

And a "trick" a lot of people seem to be using - if the interest your money earns would take you over a tax threshold, think about premium bonds as a place to stash your money, e.g. while you're waiting for the legalities to finish so you can buy the piece of property you have your eye on. There's ...

Re: Sipp

A good place to start with current education, moominmama, is here https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/pensions/ There's a lot of detail in the subheadings, and further links. Good luck! It's really important to faff around with this stuff to minimise your tax bill as much as possible - e.g. I have som...

Thanks for that! Those really are a hole in my preps, and little burns are so common ... I'm lucky the hole hasn't come back to bite me, so to speak

Re: The Home Medicine Cabinet.

Thanks for that, Andy - nice and simple, and bound to be useful. I was thinking of the whole issue about dressings and maybe stopping bleeding too, but in reality the basics are well covered in that little set of documents.

Re: The Home Medicine Cabinet.

Mine's not too bad - some of the aspirin/ paracetemol/ ibuprofen is a little bit out of date, because I bought such a stock when I first realised about the need. I also have quite a few stashes: the main stuff is a crate under the bed and a crate in the wardrobe. Then there's an over the shoulder ba...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

That's very impressive, jansman, to have the kit and to do it. The seedlings I bought are still alive, I haven't drowned them, though I have made a boo-boo in the garden - I rested on my laurels after all the bramble digging-up, and now the ordinary weeds have gone completely crazy. Some have set se...

Re: Dentist!

GeeGee omg, I've heard the stories, but not heard anyone speak who's actually done it. You poor thing :( I hope the visit to your dentist today went well. Medusa I agree, the sharp pointy stuff doesn't leave your mouth feeling half so clean as the polisher and squirty water :( Now I've got my pensi...
