Starting a fire
I've been reading about starting a fire with bits of cotton wool dipped in vaseline .... has anybody actually done this? What I'm wondering about is whether it has to be cotton wool - why it couldn't be old clothes or rags cut up into small patches, for instance? I'd have a little practice myself, b...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I was a skip surfer round here for a while last year, and I started again tonight: - 2 - 3 square yards of doubled cardboard, to help me establish my veg bed for next year, without too much work. Grass *will* be dying underneath the cardboard Any Time Now. - thinking about what somebody said about b...

Re: Hemp Seed
My message to Infinity, from another email account, was replied to this morning:
"Thank you for your enquiry.
Our biggest bag is 25kg.
Cant comment regarding sprouting except to say lots of our customers do it.
regards"
In other words, op sec! Do it, but don't talk about it

Re: PAW Book list
Lucifer's Hammer is great. He loves science, Larry Niven, and he likes to get it right. He likes characterisation too, his books are proper best-sellers in the science fiction world; he was runner up one year for an award for male authors best at creating female characters, and later that year it tu...

Approved Foods :D 10p a go :D along with the nit combs I mentioned at 3 for 99p .... AF are a seriously excellent source of cheap preps, but you have to check their stock regularly - a quick look right now and I can see 415g tins of butterbeans, 3 for 99p, 800g tins of tomato puree 3 for 99p, 1250g ...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I was just wondering about iodine recently. Thanks for the heads-up. Also, the nit combs sound a good idea. You're welcome! **blushes** it was only 25ml, but even several dressings don't actually use much. As for the nit combs - I'd previously walked around a big Boots store, and made a list of wha...

Re: Floating bug out
I love this idea! If I was going to be nomadic, this would be the way to go for me, rather than a vehicle - there'd be a lot of skills to learn, of course. I've started wondering about doing this anyway, to fund the gap between when I want to retire, and when my state pension will/might become avail...

Re: Water Basics
The water I carry round with me every day is in a lovely big pba /bpa (sorry! sp!) free container ... I'm having a 5 litre container delivered on Monday with my normal supermarket shopping, princely sum of £1.05 - the flash floods have got me thinking, it could be me next, who knows? And who knows i...
