Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

... we are about the only people who speak to them down the street (race colour or creed mean nothing to me I treat people equal) we got a Christmas card from them thanking us for our help over the year... Little things like you have left your lights car on.. or your dog's escaped... Cost nothing b...

Re: prep fail

I'm not a fan of adulterating one of the nicest fuels to work with by adding chemicals to make it do something that its very keen to do naturally. Charcoal briquettes are a totally different beast. They're hygroscopic (or at least seem to be) so they can go mouldy and/or disintegrate into a porridg...

prep fail

Last year during the start of the first lock down, I bought extra bbq coal in case of power outages, short supplies ect. Didn't use much last summer as it happen. Opened up a bag last weekend to do a birthday BBQ for hubby's 50th, even though the weather was pants, and found that in spite of being s...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 8.

Preps this week are me setting up a grab folder/notebook with all my important stuff in it. I will stick it on a usb stick and put it in my grab bag but also have it printed out in a lever file that's stored in the old gun safe. (Don't want info left lying about in a folder that someone can pick up ...

Re: Equipping a vehicle

One question . I've seen it mentioned several times , a folding shovel. Why a folding shovel? It's a car so why not carry a proper full sized one . There's the space to carry it and should it be needed a full sized one will do a much better job. For me it's just practical to have a fold up one. I j...

Re: Equipping a vehicle

At the risk of opening one's mouth and sounding like an idiot... Do glass breakers and seatbelt cutters not need to be within reach of driver/passengers...? My seatbelt cutter/window breaker tool is in the pocket behind passenger seat so I can reach it from the driver position, though thinking abou...

Article of the new rules around wood and coal burning for home heating

For those who with use as a main heat source or those preppers who have it as a back up, I thought this might be worth while posting. (Tho I'm sure if you use wood and coal as your main fuel source, you know this already! :D ) https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/house-coal-and-wet-wood-restriction...

Re: Equipping a vehicle

It sounds like you're pretty covered. I did carry a fold up spade during winter months but I haven't put that back in for a few winters now. Probably ought to as I'm just tempting fate really! I just bought a shewee and a couple of toilet bags to add to my car bag. I have a little hex stove, mess ti...

Re: I’m back

Hullo again :D I do remember you. I have a tendency to disappear off the boards myself for months at a time then pop up for a good few months before going quiet again. That's life for you! I tend to get refocussed on looking at things from an actual prep point of view after just bumbling along with ...
