Food containers for quick evacuation?

Post by Omega »

Water is relatively easy - I have 5 litre water bottles and 5-10 litre canisters that I can quickly pack into the car
However, I wonder how to pack the food so that I could quickly put it into the car?
Currently thinking of a few options:
1. Boxes about 5-10 kilos (12-25 lbs) that I can move to the car. However, I feel it might look ugly as I want to store boxes in my room to protect from rodents or bugs. Unless someone has ideas of nicely looking boxes for food storage?
2. Suitcase packed with food - I can roll it and then carry on stairs. It will be expensive because I will need to buy suitcases. However, it won't look too ugly as I like travel style
3. Something else?
I did not check the volume of food, but my goal is to take around 1 month worth of food - about 1 week worth of MREs, 2 weeks worth of sea survival MREs, canned fish, vegetable oil, honey, sugar, grains that require only soaking, protein powder etc
What will be your ideas?
Thank you

When we go camping the food goes into a Really Useful Box and the coolbox. RUB are easy to stack and carry unless you buy the really huge ones) and can double as simple seats.

Rucksacks.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Suitcases can be picked up from charity shops fairly cheaply if you go looking for them 'out of season'

Good quality plastic boxes that nest are a way of reducing bulk in storage.Unless you planning on storing them full...... If thats the case, maybe low ones to slide under the bed?

I have a lot of square lidded buckets that stack well and don't waste space like round ones do, I can carry two of those full of cans in each hand for short distances (fine if I was loading the car but I wouldn't want to walk a couple of miles like that)

Cardboard Document boxes cost less then a fiver and will hold 15kgs..... Most people won't think "Crazy Food-hoarding Survival-prepperist" when they see them

Plastic lidded buckets are rainproof, mouseproof and insect proof. Having handles, two may be more easily carried to the BOV at the same time than cardboard boxes if there's a panic.
