"Make", "Do" and "Mend" is the heart of frugality.
Don't pay someone to do something if you can do it yourself.
Make your own, using basic resources to make what you want - back to don't pay someone else to cook, sew, DIY for you. (Bushcraft takes this to extremes using foraged, hunted matierials)
Don't buy things you don't need and make what you have last longer before you have to buy it again by maintaining & repairing it.
And if there is a group of you working this way you can trade your skills with someone else's which makes it work even better.
