PreppingSu wrote: Mon Dec 19, 2022 4:09 pm Today's haul from a local bakery:
3 white bread rolls (large, almost the size of my hand!)
2 seeded sub rolls
2 large sausage rolls, still warm
1 pasty, still warm
1 jam doughnut.

DD got doughnut as she drove me there.
Rolls into freezer, perfect for filling with leftover turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce.
And tonight's tea will be sausage rolls and pasty, with homemade wedges and salad. Perfect.

All means my stocks of food will last a little longer.
Was that a £3.09 one?
If so, not great value.
It was a £4.00 one, but from an excellent local bakery. Worth £12.00.
The bread rolls and seeded sub ones are huge. Much better quality than supermarket rolls.
The sausage rolls and pasty were part of 3 adult meals in the evening, adding only homemade potato wedges and salad which needed to be used up, so I think very good value.
I stand corrected. I'd under-visualised

Revisiting TGTG, Got a pretty good haul this time.
This was possibly the best haul I've ever had! Everything in it will get joyously eaten.
There was a good helping of rather good meat. Nothing in bad condition.

Half the chicken on 2 slices of bread + half the pork pie and an added orange and slice of fruit cake for lunch.
Nipped into Morrisons tonight and bagged 6 sausage rolls for 60p :) This is going to be a bargain lunch week for me :p

What's this got to do with prepping? Good housekeeping and frugality go hand in hand with prepping. Call it prepping for when inflation makes us all skint.

Kefir is a probiotic drink usually made from milk. Think thin fizzy yoghurt. There is also a water kefir which we make at home. Kefir grains + water +sugar + 2 hours and maybe a bit of dried fruit or lemon makes a DIY fizzy drink.
