Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I recently heard of someone who was carrying a baseball in the boot of his car. When questioned by the police for a different offence he said it was for self-defense and was promptly arrested as it was a dangerous weapon. He was later told that if he'd have said it was playing baseball he wouldn't have been arrested. Obvious perhaps...but if you do carry a baseball bat then keep a ball and/or glove with it to strengthen the argument.

I'm a Police Officer and echo what has been said - it is likely that a Test Case will have to be bought to determine the legality of Farbgel. I would urge caution before carrying anything with 'Defence Spray' written on the tin, as if stopped it is likely that an Officer will arrest for carrying this, and submit it for forensic analysis. I probably would. Section 5 of the Firearms Act describes items capable of discharging a noxious liquid. A previous Test Case found that an empty washing up bottle full of acid was not a Firearm, but clearly was an offensive weapon (made, intended or adapted.... etc). If this was not found to be a Firearm, it may yet be found to be an Offensive Weapon.

Stove arrived today, time for a fettle and a polish up:Technik wrote:I hope we didn't bid the same stove... I just lost a valor 64c paraffin stove. If it was you then I wouldn't bid higherpseudonym wrote:Bid stronger this time on evil bay and just got my second stove.
That's two lanterns and two stoves now, so using paraffin as a fuel; that's my lighting and cooking covered.
Now need to stock up on spare parts for future repairs.

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Sadly Lil, Siwhite is absolutely correct, under no circumstances do you say that item is for self defence or have anything marked as such. Let me put it another way, what do you carry for self defence on your person? I have carried a variety of stuff over the years, but have come to the conclusion that an attacker is not going to wait while I rummage about to find said item to defend myself. Therefore, my option is a sturdy handbag made of stiff leather, on a good quality shoulder strap. It's as good as anything else and better than most.
Anyhoo back on topic. I am dehydrating more mushrooms to rotate out the old stock(made some mushroom soup from the old batch, yum!) I've found a bucket supplier and made a lemon drizzle cake
