I'll be on a meths hunt as well as visiting Ikea
Sounds like a bad sequel to train spotting Le Mouse...

thegnole - thanks so much, I do actually have the pads too, got given them at the same time as the suit from work, if that makes sense????
As weve all said though, lets hope my grandchildren are using them to play astronauts in in 50 years time. Then again, Im sure in 50 years Ill actually think I am an astronaut? :)

Got a bookcase off freecycle - shelves and drawers. It will fit perfectly in the understairs cupboard, so I can now start putting everything in one place, rather than items being scattered around the house.

Not buying nothing until my canner arrives. Til then, its just learning stuff online, practicing with the catapult and having real plans for the future.

Picked up the fuel bottle. Nowhere sold cheap meths, so I'll visit Homebase on Sunday and see how much it is there.

Also got some cheap thermal gloves from a nice little independent outdoors shop. Discovered that he sells snow grip thingies for tiny child feet like mine, so might go back and get some when I get paid. He also has some thermal underwear on offer. If I don't get the snow grips, then I definitely will be getting thermals!

I made a list of preps I've made vs preps I need to do. Guess which was bigger?

Bought a bit of extra food for storage before I got the bus home. If I buy a little bit extra (one more jar or tin) each time I go shopping, then I'll have a decent food store quite quickly.

Tonight is reserved for beginning knitting my winter hat :)

Got a few hundred squids to spend on topping out the food stores, and maybe another grand to knock a lump off the mortgage at the end of the month, need to go and get the empty gas bottles filled from the pump at the local garage, but need some smaller empty bottles rather than the big ones as it is cheaper that way, and much easier to store of course

I'll just go down the tip and ask for some smaller ones, I get to keep the bigger ones then as they are cheaper to exchange than to re-fill.

Have you thought of doing an online shop? That way you can get a good stash of stuff brought straight to the door. If you pick an unpopular delivery time, then you can get it delivered for as little as £3.00 (ASDA I believe start at as little as £2.50) - probably the same price as your bus fare.
