Hey feisty,
I have made two batches the first batch didn't really have a lot of flavour the second batch I added spices and cherries and dried fruit as well as beef jerky was really tasty and unbelievably good for you with excellent levels of protein etc
What Preps are you doing this week
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I have no doubt it's nutritious and I also don't think fat is bad for you, especially if the general diet is low in calories. I think it's great that you can prep to this level, but I know for sure my kids would strangle me and bury me under the patio if I tried to get them to eat thisSirmattyb wrote:Hey feisty,

Always interested in what other people eat and wish my family weren't so difficult to please food-wise.
Apparently it can be stored for up to four years we shall have to see on that one though, I also prep mainly with tinned and dried food stocks but think I shall soon get fed up with tinned sardines, salmon, corned beef and peach halves haha

I agree! Corned beef .... and Spam! Haven't had those since I was wee
.

Need to rotate food store - move things that are close to their BBD to the daily food cupboard, plus add some new tins/dried to the prep store.

Good start. You'll have an allotment soon. Carrots generally don't do well when transplanted - you end up with little comedy carrots on the end of a big bunch of green leaves. Sow direct, then thin to the correct growing space. Runner beans can also be sown direct, if you leave them in the tray you'll need to transplant to a larger pot almost as soon as they germinate. I start mine off in 4" pots, or 500gm yoghurt pots, whichever I find first. They can stay in there a little longer than in a try.poppypiesdad wrote:Well that's the veggie plot started , got to start somewhere , turned over a square , rake length x rake length, dug in some well rotted horse poo, and got started with some tatties that has sprouted , got carrots , leeks, broccoli , runner beans and sunflowers planted up in a seeding tray . Wee one overjoyed that her garden has started

Ordered myself an enema kit to help me with general health during normal times and possibly rehydration in more difficult times

Now I subscribe to "You Are What You Eat" and I wish I was a bit more salad, but if you eat your roughage, drink your water and don't eat too much crap, you absolutely do not need an enema kitnickdutch wrote:Ordered myself an enema kit to help me with general health during normal times and possibly rehydration in more difficult times

Stocked up on string as you never know when it might be useful, have been searching the seed section of ebay and have been blown away by the varieties. Up til now I have had a policy of buy a veg or fruit, keep its seeds, grow them, hope for the best, take the best seedlings out of the seed tray and then just eat the produce of that. now I might just bust some dollars on a selection of more interesting seeds and might do that indoor radish growing in a plastic cup thing, so long as flies and mould dont become a problem.
