This would be my plan too. All the chalets would be 'self sufficient' solar powered, wood burners etc..

I'd have forest surrounding with fences round the perimeter, state of the art CCTV set up. Keep some animals. Poly tunnels and gardens for growing fruit and veg.

Massive panic room accessible from my room and the children's bedrooms through the wardrobes that lead to a car you could get out of the underground garage if needed too. A big ole bunker with enough space and provisions for 50 people. Don't think it would ever be that full though...

I have thought a lot about it. Though do get a little paranoid about the people installing the panic room etc coming back and doing us in as they would know how to bypass the setup! :tinfoil

I would continue prepping, as it's a state of mind, but it would alleviate a lot of the worry.

I doubt any significant amount of money would go on any ecstravigant prepping, but instead I would start my own charity and I would ensure the wealth is shared out to families with disabled children like myself.

I would build a new house as where we live needs too much work, would be easier to start from scratch but it would be built with my sons needs in mind. It would be as off grid as is possible, it would be not too far from where we are now but in a more rural setting. Possibly the big difference would be I would have a fully stocked medical room with years supply of the things we need. Big garden to be self sufficient in growing veg, which is a bit limited at the moment.

Would splash too much cash on a vehicle - we are looking for a WAV (wheelchair access vehicle) so I would up the anti and get a hybrid type. Right now getting together the deposit for a WAV is the challenge.

Not quite what I expected I was going to say. Amazing how priorities and ideas change in little time.
This is off topic but have you ever considered buying a second hand taxi - Many of them atleast in Dundee are WAV's - they are well maintained (due to police checks etc), will have high mileage but not usually an issue, 5 year old Fiat Doblo conversions go for around £500 it's unreal considering the price new - also Peugeot Premiers are at the point of being replaced at around £2000 depending on your budget. I know you have the option of Motability but it's worth a look - even short term. If your interested calling around your local firms to express an interest is the place to start.. (I'm in the trade so know a little about ex-taxi sales). Hope you find something suitable in the future :)

The only way I've ever thought it possible to get around this is to have a second team come in and reconfigure the system adding extra security measures etc, then a third. Asking the first to come back to check their own install only and explaining to them you have upgraded their system without allowing them access to the upgrades etc.. So at no point will either of the three installers have the knowledge to bypass all three systems...

Totally with you :tinfoil

Cheers Dundee Prepper

As it happens a few weeks ago we found a 1 year old WAV with an affordable deposit and on motability.
It's a Peugeot Expert. So perfect. Just waiting for it to be ready. Getting together the. £1500 was tough, but it's sorted now!

Cheers again.

This is what happened at the new gchq, different teams were brought in for each level, you would not believe the depth they went down! I was there at the earliest stages, really interesting.
