Once I have sorted the CB stuff out I intend to get myself a cheap Chinese VHF (2 Metre) handheld.

I can recommend the Puxing 888, found on the *bay, i have many that i have bought direct from hong kong with no trouble at all, i have 2x vhf and 2x uhf, they are sturdy very easy to program with a cheap lead (you can get deals that include these)and there are all the accessories you could wand including high capacity batteries available on there.
They sometimes come up on there second hand in the UK, they are quite often an M6's first radio.
