Well, my marvellous husband has got loads of painting done in the cellar. It's looking fantastic, very light and needs much less light to see what's happening down there. Good job he's a pro at this, otherwise it would have taken us forever!

Got some more food supplies in - rice, salt and daft bits and bobs. I think we see our food stash as an extension of our normal food cupboard, so the rotation should be much easier than if we had it stashed under the spare bed (which is where it was originally....). It's way too easy to forget up there, so at least if we see it as part of our pantry it's pretty visible. Might sound daft, but it works for me.

Anyway, got about a ton of rubble shifted that was used to block up one of our fireplaces - we've just opened it up so we can have another open fire. No nasty surprises when we swept it, so fingers crossed it's ok to use. Just another ton to shift!

Got the kids round tomorrow for dinner, so need to get the room cleared out for then. Daughter knows about the prepping and thinks its really sensible. Son thinks we're as mad as a box of frogs. Such is life.....

got some brilliant deals at Tesco yesterday - the small travel bottles of John Frieda shampoo and coniditioner were 50% off so only cost 86p each. Stergene travel wash for clothes was £1 each, Halo deodrant wipes £1 each, travel size colgate toothepast 3 for £3, Simple skin care facial wash, moisturizer and toner bottles were 3 for £3 - bought enough for 3 bug out bags!

This week I also got some good deals at Robert Dyson - duct tape half price, AA emergency foil blanket for £1, wind up latern for £1 - all off the discount shelve.

Also got a washing line for £1, assorted nail set, candles, tie snaps, a can opener and a candle lighter.

also got a small pack of AA walks in Surrey to go into the BOB, and a travel size monopoly set for free from the puppy points I've been collecting for the loo paper I buy.

I've put everything into white container boxes that I've also bought for storage from Sainsbury for £6 for the set of 4 so I can store it until I get it sorted out as I still need to buy the BOB that I want.

Went to the racecourse car boot. WOW! Lots of bargains and equipment.

Picked up a hurricane lantern in good condition, plus 2 20l jerry cans. OH picked up some hand tools for his green woodworking and general DIY. Didn't spend anymore than £20.

Will return soon as I saw some very good quality singer hand sewing machines for a very good price. That's my next purchase.

I gave my wish list of car boot items to hubby (all prepping related) and he didn't bat an eyelid! :D

Jan and I went and got a new alarm system for the house today. The last 8 yrs we have had a cracking, foolproof wireless system. However the siren seems to be playing up so we decided to sacrifice the cash and upgrade it. Boy is the technology different! Easy to install, operate and maintain. There have been burglaries locally, and we are due to have a holiday soon, so it puts my Wife at ease.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Lil, when the dried food arrives can you please post the expiry date. I'd be real interested to know what the best before date was on that bag of dried veg.

Just rotated my water supply - found a box at the back:

Forgot to cover that stack properly and some light got in.

Only 14 litres this time, but a gentle reminder to myself.

Lesson learnt.
