We were in this evening and I pointed it out to Her Maj but she was dismissive, that probably means next time they're in she'll have the bright idea of getting one.

Managed to pop a few more cans into the trolley for the zombie stores, between Aldi and Asda I got about a dozen.

Dehydrated a load of 'shrooms this week and depending on my post football hangover on sunday I've got a load of peppers to do next. I had a disaster a week or so ago when a shelf gave way and spilled a load of kilner jars smashing some including a large one full of onion that was used regularly so need to both get more kilner jars AND keep the dehydrator busy to make up the shortfall.

I thought it was such a bargain price, not seen one this big this cheap ever. It feels very hefty for £17.99

Thanks Decaff, I was gutted. We lost a load of ready use beans and stuff too but I was particularly gutted about the dried onions, there were God knows how many onions worth and because of the broken glass we just got rid of everything. I've done a batch to keep me going, I add them to quite a bit and long term they're my priority to top up but I had a backlog of mushrooms and peppers. Another batch of onions will be getting done this week too though. I put a shelf into what was the 'cupboard' where a built in fridge freezer lived before and it wasn't strong enough to support all the stuff we put on it, lesson learned. I'll replace the dowelling that held the shelf and put lighter stuff there freeing up room for the kilner jars. Grrrrrrrr  Not a happy camper though.

Deeps, onions are on offer this week in both Aldi and Lidl. I got 3 kilos yesterday, should have been 59p per bag but I got home and noticed I was charged 45p per bag instead! French onion soup coming up in the next few days and this lot will be canned up.

Today, I tackle the mountain of tomatoes in the freezer whilst playing, sorry trying out, my new Kenwood gadget to squish em!

Bad luck there Deeps. Nothing worse than having to bin perfectly good food even worse if it's home preserved. Onions and leeks disappear pretty quick here too. ;)

Thanks for the onion alert! I have a stack of rhubarb in the freezer and I need the room. Chutney making this week methinks.

Thanks for the heads up, I got a couple of bags on friday to keep me going, they're on my 'to do' list. Unfortunately I'm still a tad 'hors de combat' today so I had a lazy day planned anyway, however one of the neighbours is 'making' me go to the pub to watch the football so all dehydrating has been put on hold. Manana, manana (sorry I don't know who to do the wee squggle), football > prepping :D

Aye, I was gutted but the leeks survived (2 bloody kilners, only 1 onion  ) and I've done a batch to keep me going, just need to replenish. Leeks are a much undervalued veg for me, I put them in pretty much everything but I'm both a cheapskate and very unfussy. :D

Spent yesterday servicing the wife's car , I do it rather than main dealer as I can do it a hell of a lot cheaper , with OEM parts from Euro car parts , whole service £90 , I know it's been done and done right .
Had windscreen replaced on new van , less the 3.5k in miles , huge bull's-eye on passenger side interesting way they remove the screen .
And tidied out my container .Since I'm now employed rather than self employed I've got spare kit that I would rather eBay than let sit I'm my container .
Specialist stuff that my company supplies rather than myself . So eBay listing are go . Just hope I get as much back than I outlayed but meh ......
