Bought 500g of potassium permanganate and 1litre of glycerol. And there we have it fire

Bet that raises a few 'flags' doh eyebrows.

Make sure it's warm out and don't breathe the fumes.

Better off with a ferrocerium rod and a knife or steel and some charcloth, no chance of stains, accidental reactions, works in damp conditions and probably works out alot cheaper.

I would use a flint and steel but I can never get the hang of them I've only ever made fire with them once and it took me about an hour. My fingers were covered in cuts and blister from it
I have some of both chemicals in my bug out bag. And you've reminded me to keep them in separate compartments don't want to accidentally set my bug out bag on fire

Screwdriver, white quartz stone and some charcloth or two quartz stones and charcloth and maybe some hand sanitizer to help the whole thing go up nicely. cheap

The fire sticks/rods are a doddle, you can't miss with em, nice shower of white hot sparks every time, some are better than others of course but alot better than flint & steel which is more of a purists game I think. Cotton wool makeup remover pads with vaseline massaged into them make great fire starters, ultra light and take up hardly any room. For a bob though in all honesty I'd just throw half a dozen lighters in it.

Good idea on separating the chems otherwise your bob could become bib (bbq in bag)

Purchased a wide variety of items which will form the basis of a comprehensive hand sewing kit. Thread, pins, snaps, seam splitters (heavy and light) needles of various sizes,iron on hemming tape etc and also a number of curved needles, specialty needles and thread suitable for sewing canvas and thin(ish) leather.

I'm thinking that, in the future, it might be necessary to repair a lot of things. I want to have that option.

BTW: Ikea do cheap thread, and a sewing kit (but I could not see the kit in the store last time I went so you might want to check they still sell it if you are making a special trip there)

Inner and outer Army Arctic gloves.

Arctic socks x3 pairs.

Well yeah, who wouldn't.

Actually not too difficult at all. Over the years we've both come to see the value of our preps. (Eg today main meal came entirely from preps, including the flour for the bread rolls). But we want to consolidate the internally held stocks and equipment into one location. With preps in various locations we have had to scurry here or there to find stuff when we need it. This just makes it easier for us to control. And the armoury will be a nice touch instead of keeping bows under beds and beside the PC, X bows in the attic, pike heads and war axes in the extension, swords elsewhere, slings in the shed.. you know what I mean... But we're still keeping the Machete's hand axes and knives well hidden.

I live abroad and it isnt as easy getting those little bits so I was back in the UK today and did a little shopping:

2X 10l water carriers
2X dynamo torches
1X battery lantern
1X battery radio
1X sanitary items
Lots of 'toilet' medication
2X elastoplast plasters (20 pack)
2X litre bottles of disinfectant
2X 50 paper plates
2X 50 plastic KFS
Pro diablo sling shot and a bugger load of ammo to practice with!
