Pretty pointless exercise I would suggest, just get yourself a non-locking multi-tool to start with.

fair point Devonian. Actually my EDC is an old SAK, purchased about 30 years ago from a market stall in Switzerland. All it's needed in all that time is a new scissor spring and a replacement toothpick.
