All that seems to refer to is commercial even then i bet many fall foul of those guidelines 20 x cartridges isnt many especially in a camping shop or argos who sell those suitcase camping stoves for example

You'd have thought by now they would have twigged that those who caravan will have a sizeable stock

usually

2 x 7kg butane

2x 7kg Propane

1 x 4kg butane for bbq

as a minimum ....

then at home another for BBQ and one for say a patio heater it soon adds up

Trying to add up what we have and its about the list above... not counting the numerous refills for my camping stoves and lanterns...

Interesting.....

When they say "Building" do they mean dwelling ?

Could I store extra petrol in my shed, which is at the other end of my 170 foot garden ?

You are allowed two containers of petrol on your property. plastic 2x5ltr metal 2x10ltr. No petrol should be stored in a house/dwelling but sheds and detached garages are ok. If you want to store more you need to notify ???????? and unless you have a good reason they will turn you down.

Just an ontopic update to the thread :o

Got talking to a friend of my dads on thursday anyway it turns out that he had a gen set for sale having upgraded to a big 7kva unit, i asked him originally about a rewind as he's in the electrical trade and he sold me this for less than he could get one of his suppliers to rewind the old unit

http://generators.co.uk/Product/0000000554/E3200

hardly the most eloquent of devices unlike the cosmetic finishes on domestic units but it had been stood in his outhouse 12 months but it started on the second tug of the recoil handle and run nice and smooth ....

got a bottle of oil and new plug for it £7.80 ish to service it (air filter was spotlessly clean) its been well looked after mechanically frame looks a bit tatty having been thrown about on industrial sites but come summer i'll strip it and repaint the frame but it doesn't affect the important bit of making mains electric...... :)

Only draw back is its not got a proper AVR but our central heating is an old back boiler with mechanical time clock so no electronics to cook......

it might be an ineficant boiler by modern standards but in 20 years its cost us about £120 in parts and labour ((excluding annual servicing)) (one pump and a solenoid coil for the gas valve )

Friend of mine threw £300ish at her boiler last year at this time for a new PCB

Least i now have something as looking at the forecast over the Christmas period the weather is shaping up to be stormy
